Wren Research Journals is committed to protecting the privacy, dignity and confidentiality of all research participants.
- Requirement of Informed Consent
- Written informed consent must be obtained from all individuals who can be identified in the manuscript, including patients in case reports, clinical data or images.
- For minors or individuals unable to consent, permission must be obtained from a parent or legally authorized guardian.
- Consent must be obtained before submission and publication.
- Protection of Identity
- Identifiable details such as names, initials, hospital numbers, dates of birth or addresses must not be included in manuscripts.
- Authors must ensure complete confidentiality of participant data.
- Image masking techniques may be used but are not sufficient alone to guarantee anonymity.
- Scope of Consent
Participants must be informed that:
- Their clinical information, images or case details may be published in print and online formats.
- Published content may be accessible worldwide via the internet.
- Once published, removal from public access may not be possible.
- Manuscript Declaration
A consent statement must be included, such as:
- “Written informed consent was obtained from all participants for publication of this study and associated images.”
- For minors: “Written informed consent was obtained from parents or legal guardians for participants under 18 years of age.”
- Retention of Consent Forms
- Authors must securely retain signed consent forms.
- These must be provided to the journal upon request at any stage of review or publication.
- Ethical Responsibility
- If there is any uncertainty regarding anonymity, written informed consent must be obtained without exception.
Wren Research Journals reserves the right to reject or retract manuscripts that do not comply with informed consent requirements, in accordance with COPE guidelines.
