Research Ethics Policy

Wren Research Journals is committed to maintaining the highest standards of ethical conduct in scholarly research and publication. All submitted manuscripts must comply with internationally recognized ethical principles and demonstrate integrity, transparency and accountability.

Ethical Approval

  • Research involving human participants must receive prior approval from a recognized Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC). 
  • The name of the approving authority along with the approval reference number must be clearly stated in the manuscript. 
  • Studies involving animals must be approved by an Institutional Animal Ethics Committee and conducted in accordance with applicable national and international guidelines. 

Ethics in Human Research

  • Research involving human subjects must follow the ethical principles outlined in the Declaration of Helsinki. 
  • Participants’ dignity, privacy and confidentiality must be fully respected. 
  • Risks should be minimized and the expected benefits should outweigh any potential harm. 

Ethics in Animal Research

  • Animal studies must ensure humane care and ethical handling. 
  • Researchers must adhere to the principles of Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement (3Rs). 
  • Any unnecessary suffering of animals is strictly prohibited. 

Informed Consent

  • Written informed consent must be obtained from all participants prior to their inclusion in the study. 
  • For minors or individuals unable to provide consent, permission must be obtained from a parent or legal guardian. 
  • Consent must include permission for publication where applicable. 
  • Authors must include a statement confirming that informed consent has been obtained. 

Clinical Trial Registration

  • All clinical trials must be registered in a publicly accessible registry before participant enrollment begins. 
  • The registry name and registration number must be included in the manuscript. 

Privacy and Confidentiality

  • Authors must ensure strict protection of participant confidentiality. 
  • Identifiable personal information must not be published unless essential and supported by written consent. 
  • Wherever possible, data must be anonymized to safeguard privacy. 

Research Integrity

  • Plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification and duplicate publication are strictly prohibited. 
  • All manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism detection tools. 
  • Authors are responsible for the accuracy and reliability of their data and records. 

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

In accordance with guidance from the World Association of Medical Editors:

  • AI tools cannot be listed as authors. 
  • Any use of AI in writing, analysis or study design must be clearly disclosed. 
  • Authors remain fully responsible for the integrity and accuracy of the manuscript. 

Ethical Oversight

  • Editors may request supporting documents such as ethics approval letters or consent forms at any stage. 
  • Manuscripts that fail to meet ethical requirements may be rejected or retracted. 
  • Ethical issues will be addressed following COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.
